Features of Room 101

• The room has 1 double bed.
• Maximum occupancy is 2 people.
• All rooms in our hotel have a jacuzzi.
• Additionally, the room is equipped with an electric kettle, television, air conditioning, complimentary water, slippers, bath amenities, safe box, telephone, minibar, hairdryer, and wifi.
• We offer a complimentary wake-up service.
• The room has underfloor heating.

History of Room 101

When we discovered Room 101, it was originally used for storage by local farmers.
After cleaning the room, we discovered a tandoor oven where the bed is now located.

Unfortunately, most of the tandoors are not visible as they were centrally located in larger rooms, where beds are now placed.
The space in the room now used as a bathroom was once a winemaking area.
They would crush grapes and collect the juice in a carved basin on the wall to the left of the bath steps.
The front wall of the room was worn. Therefore, it was restored using natural stones found in the Cappadocia region.
The interior walls were darkened due to the tandoor used by people who lived here before.
The walls were cleaned using a tool resembling a geologist's fine and pointed pickaxe.
Smooth surfaces aid in the oxidation process and allow the stone to harden.
A rough surface tends to collect moisture and leads to peeling or crumbling.
The walls were constructed this way hundreds of years ago.
The bed in the room, the desk, wardrobe doors, and window frames were all made in the on-site carpentry workshop. The stones used for the restoration were also sized on-site.

As MDC Hotel is located in a heritage area, we took care to keep the rooms in their original dimensions.

You will notice ventilated holes in the ceilings of all bathrooms and some other rooms. These increase air circulation necessary for preserving cave surfaces. Without ventilation, moisture accumulates, damaging the walls and ceilings.

Construction began in October 2009. The restaurant to the left of the stairs leading to the reception, the area to the left of the restaurant, the reception area, stairs leading upward, and all rooms extending to the right were completed and made ready for opening in February 2011. The construction of a total of 22 rooms and common areas took 2 years. At one point, 70 workers were employed daily at the construction site to provide a more comfortable and cozy environment for our guests without disturbing the original cave structure of our hotel.
