History of Room 605

The walls were cleaned using a tool resembling a geologist's thin and pointed pickaxe.
Smooth surfaces aid in the oxidation process and allow the stone to harden.
A non-smooth surface tends to collect moisture, leading to peeling or crumbling.
The walls were constructed in this manner hundreds of years ago.
The bed in the room, work desk, wardrobe doors, and window frames were all made in the carpentry workshop on site. The stones used for restoration were also dimensioned on site.

As MDC Hotel is located in a heritage area, we have taken care to maintain the original dimensions of the rooms.

You may notice openings in the ceilings of all bathrooms and some other rooms. These enhance air circulation necessary for the preservation of cave surfaces. Without ventilation, moisture can accumulate and walls and ceilings can deteriorate.

Construction began in October 2009. The restaurant to the left of the stairs leading to the reception and the area to the left of the restaurant, including all rooms accessed by the reception and extending to the right, were completed and made ready for opening in February 2011. The construction of a total of 22 rooms and common areas took 2 years. To provide our guests with a more comfortable and pleasant environment without disrupting the original cave structure of our hotel, once 70 workers were employed on the site.
