Room 102 Features

• The room has 1 double bed and 1 large sofa bed.
• Maximum capacity is 2 guests.
• All rooms in our hotel have a Jacuzzi.
• There is a seating area inside the room and in front of the door.
• The room also includes an electric kettle, television, air conditioning, complimentary water, slippers, basket, safety deposit box, telephone, minibar, hairdryer, and wifi.
• We offer a complimentary wake-up service.
• The room is equipped with underfloor heating.

Room 102 History

When we discovered Room 102, it was originally used by local farmers for storage purposes.
After cleaning the room, we discovered a tandır (oven) where the bed is now located.

Unfortunately, most tandırs were removed as they were originally located in larger rooms where beds are now placed, making them hard to display.
The space now used as a bathroom in the room used to be an area for winemaking. They would crush grapes and pour the juice into a collection container carved into the wall to the left of the bath stairs.
When we discovered the room, the front wall was worn. Therefore, it was restored using natural stones from the Cappadocia region.
The interior walls were darkened due to the use of tandırs by the people who once lived here.
The walls were cleaned using a tool resembling a geologist's thin and sharp-ended pickaxe.
Rough surfaces aid in the process of oxidation and allow the stone to harden.
A smooth surface tends to accumulate moisture and causes peeling or flaking.
The walls were built in this manner hundreds of years ago.
The bed, desk, closet doors, and window frames in the room were crafted in the workshop on site. The stones used for restoration were also sized on site.

Since MDC Hotel is situated in a heritage area, we made an effort to keep the rooms in their original size.

You will notice holes cut in the ceilings of all bathrooms and some other rooms. These increase the necessary air circulation for preserving cave surfaces. Without ventilation, moisture can accumulate, causing damage to the walls and ceilings.

Construction began in October 2009. The area to the left of the stairs leading to the reception, the restaurant to the left of the reception, and all rooms extending to the right from the staircase were completed and prepared for opening in February 2011. The construction of a total of 22 rooms and common areas took 2 years. With up to 70 workers daily on the site, we aimed to provide our guests with a more comfortable and cozy environment without compromising the original cave structure of our hotel.
