Features of Room 504

• The room has 1 double bed and 1 sofa. Optionally, it can also be set up with 2 single beds.
• Maximum capacity is 2 persons.
• All rooms in our hotel have a jacuzzi.
• There is a seating area inside the room and in front of the door.
• The room is equipped with an electric kettle, TV, air conditioning, complimentary water, slippers, toiletry basket, safe box, telephone, minibar, hairdryer, and WiFi.
• We provide a complimentary wake-up service.
• The room has underfloor heating.

History of Room 504

This room required less renovation compared to the others. Only minor restoration was needed on the windows and ceiling. When we uncovered the ceiling of this room, it was plastered, unlike the other rooms. Just like most rooms, the entryway of room 504 was previously used as a stable and service area. All the recesses are original. The area where the bathroom is now located used to be used for sleeping. Necessary permissions were obtained from the Historical Institution to expand the area for the bathtub and toilet.

The walls were cleaned using a tool that resembles a geologist's thin and pointed pickaxe.
A smooth surface helps in the oxidation process and allows the stone to harden.
An unsmooth surface tends to accumulate moisture and leads to peeling or crumbling.
The walls were built this way centuries ago.
The bed in the room, the work desk, wardrobe doors, and window frames were all crafted in the onsite carpentry workshop. The stones used for restoration were also dimensioned onsite.

As MDC Hotel is located in a heritage area, we took care to maintain the original sizes of the rooms.

You will notice drilled holes in the ceilings of all bathrooms and some other rooms. These enhance air circulation necessary for preserving cave surfaces. Without ventilation, moisture can accumulate, causing damage to walls and ceilings.

Construction began in October 2009. The restaurant to the left of the stairs leading to the reception and the area to the left of the restaurant, reception, stairs, and all rooms extending to the right were completed and made ready for opening in February 2011. The construction of 22 rooms and common areas took 2 years. At one point, 70 workers were employed daily on the site to provide our guests with a more comfortable and cozy environment without disrupting the original cave structure of our hotel.
