The Red Tour usually includes:
The base of Uçhisar Castle – Göreme Open Air Museum – Love Valley – the ruins of Çavuşin Village – a pottery workshop in Avanos – Devrent Valley (Imagination Valley) – the fairy chimneys of Ürgüp (the Three Beauties) – and a wine experience.
The tour starts with departure from the hotels at around 09:00 in the morning. The first stop is Uçhisar Castle. Here, the guides provide information about the castle. Afterwards, there is a break for taking photos at the base of the castle and its surroundings.
The second stop
is the Göreme Open Air Museum, one of the most iconic and famous places in the region. Here, guided talks are given in the rock-cut churches, followed by photo sessions. In the open-air museum, it is also possible to see some of the oldest chapels in Christian history. These chapels were carved out of the rocks. The monastery where the Orthodox took refuge to escape Roman persecution is also here. The frescoes inside the churches and chapels, which have survived despite all the time that has passed, offer visitors a journey through history. In addition, after the Open Air Museum, Lovers’ Valley is visited.
A journey through history is an important feature of this tour. At the 3rd stop, the tour moves on to Çavuşin, an old Greek village. This is one of the oldest settlements in the region.
Completing all 3 stops takes almost 3-4 hours. Naturally, after so much time, people on the tour start to get hungry. On the Red Tour, lunch is usually eaten in the town of Avanos. In Avanos, there are lovely restaurants where you can find local flavors. The tour usually continues with lunch at a cave restaurant. After the meal, the tour of the town of Avanos begins. Avanos is a town that has been inhabited since the Hittite civilization. The town of Avanos is especially famous for its Cappadocia pottery workshops. In this area, unique works of the art of pottery are created with clay extracted from the bed of the Kızılırmak River. These pottery workshops are visited during the Avanos tour.
The next stop is Imagination Valley, also known as Devrent Valley, famous for its rock formations that look as if they were shaped by human hands to put on a visual show. In this valley, the many different rock shapes reveal the mark left by nature’s dance over thousands of years.
The entire trip covers a distance of about 30 km. The last stop is Ürgüp. Here, the fairy chimneys, the region’s most important feature, are visited. While touring the fairy chimneys, another break is taken for photos. How Much Does the Cappadocia Red Tour Cost?
The Cappadocia Red Tour covers some of the most important places in Nevşehir. As such, this tour takes a full day. It is a tour of up to 8 hours over an area of about 30 km. The price of this tour is 400 TL per person. Of course, this price includes transfers, guide service, lunch, entrance to museums and archaeological sites, and certain experiences.
