Spring and autumn are the rainy seasons here, so pack a raincoat or umbrella. It won’t be as cold as winter, but you will still want a cardigan — a trench coat or leather jacket works just as well. What to Wear in Summer
Summer weather in Cappadocia can fool you. Daytime temperatures reach as high as 40°C, then drop to nearly half that in the evening, leaving the air surprisingly cool. Don’t let the daytime heat deceive you — and don’t let it put you off either, because Cappadocia is beautiful in every season. The key is packing the right clothes.
During the day, t-shirts and shorts are ideal, along with sunscreen and a hat for protection. Choose thin, breathable fabrics, and prefer light colors over black. For the cool evenings, keep a cardigan within reach.
What to Wear in Winter
Because of the continental climate, winters in Cappadocia are harsh and very cold. Don’t let sub-zero temperatures discourage you: seeing the fairy chimneys draped in snow like a white sheet is an experience we wholeheartedly recommend.
Since even daytime is freezing in winter, wear thermal underwear beneath your trousers and a thermal top, and add a fleece or padded coat, a beanie, gloves and a scarf.
One more tip for every season: if you plan to go trekking, be sure to pack trekking shoes or boots, plus tracksuits or sportswear. Cappadocia is a must-see region — but without season-appropriate clothing in your suitcase, the weather can spoil the fun.
