History of Our Room 405

Welcome to the Pigeon Room and enjoy your solitude. On of our larger rooms this rooms that collapsed at the entry way. The room off to the right was an original sitting area and we assume the main entry was the kitchen. The bathroom was most like a storage area where items were passed back and forth through the window. The bathroom was full of silt when we obtained the property. The bedroom was a stable and the alcoves were pigeon coops. Originally there was a ramp leading up to this area. We decided to replicate the room theme on our fire place. Our carver designed the pigeon theme. Since the area was occupied by Greeks, the script is Greek and translates as “Pigeon House”. The walls were cleaned by using a hammer resembling a geologists pick. The rough surfaces help the oxidization process which allows the stone to harden. A smooth surface would tend to collect moisture and cause flaking. This is the way the walls were done hundreds of years ago. You will also notice holes bored into ceilings of all bathrooms and some other rooms. These enhance air circulation which is necessary in preservation of the cave surfaces. Without ventilation moisture would collect and the walls and ceilings would deteriorate. The bed, desk, closet doors and windows frames were made on site. Stones were also sized on site. Construction started in Kasım 2009. Standing at the bottom of the stairs the area to left of the restaurant, the restaurant and reception buildings as well as all the rooms accessible via the stairs and extending all the way to the right were completed and ready for opening in February 2011. The areas above the main patio level and to left of the restaurant were faced during the same interval. At one time there were 70 workers on site.

The hotel is located in a quiet and calm area with a romantic atmosphere. Rooms are very well designed with lots of cultural details which makes your stay even more authentic. Most of all, the staff is really helpful. Special thanks to Manager Mustafa who is very attentive and friendly towards his guests

Do not have enough words for this hotel. Located in a quiet town sort of in the back alleys. It's pretty far from the airport and on the way there we were a little concerned about how the hotel would turn out to be since we didn't know where we were staying as we booked through a tour company. But boy were we pleasantly surprised! The location was beautiful, the rooms are like nothing we have ever seen. I mean you're sleeping in a cave! Modern amenities, wifi, AC all made us feel very comfortable. But, the best part of the hotel was the food and beverage manager Ercan! He was the most gracious host and so kind! We were in Turkey for our honeymoon and he definitely made it special. The food was delicious as well and the service was top-notch. If you don't stay at the hotel, I highly recommend that you go to this restaurant. You will not regret it
