Where the Balloons Take Off<\/h2>\n

Almost every balloon tour in Cappadocia is organised around G\u00f6reme<\/strong>. In the earliest hours of the morning the balloons are spread out and inflated on the flats near the Rose Valley<\/strong>, then usually lift off from the Red Valley (K\u0131z\u0131l\u00e7ukur)<\/strong> and the areas around it. Depending on the wind direction, the balloons drift over the Pigeon Valley, Pa\u015faba\u011f (Monks Valley) and the Zemi Valley<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

One important detail to know: there is no single fixed “balloon launch point.” For flight safety, the launch field is chosen every morning from the officially permitted areas, according to that day’s wind direction and strength<\/strong>. So one day you may see the balloons right above G\u00f6reme, and the next day over towards \u00c7avu\u015fin. What Time Do the Balloons Take Off?<\/h2>\n

The balloons fly only at sunrise<\/strong>, because the calmest wind of the day is in those hours. The take-off time shifts with sunrise through the seasons:<\/p>\n

The Best Spots to Watch the Balloons<\/h2>\n

You can enjoy this view without taking a flight \u2014 and most of the hilltops are free. The viewing points we recommend to our guests:<\/p>\n

1. Lovers’ Hill (G\u00f6reme Sunset Point)<\/h3>\n

Within walking distance of G\u00f6reme, this hill sits right in the middle of the sea of balloons. On some mornings the balloons drift at eye level, or even below you. As it is the most popular spot, it is worth arriving early on summer mornings.<\/p>\n

2. Red Valley (K\u0131z\u0131l\u00e7ukur) Viewpoint<\/h3>\n

The very valley from which the balloons most often lift off. This is where you see the moment of take-off most closely \u2014 the balloons leaving the ground and rising between the rock formations. 3. Around U\u00e7hisar Castle<\/h3>\n

The highest point in the region. From here the balloons look like a panoramic carpet; the best spot for a wide-angle photo.<\/p>\n

4. The Ortahisar and \u00dcrg\u00fcp Terraces<\/h3>\n

For those who want a calm view away from the crowds, the viewing terraces around Ortahisar are a lovely alternative.
